Add the Web Chat widget
The Web Chat widget is a small chat bubble you drop onto any website. Visitors chat with your team, and every message lands in your shared Chatku inbox.
1. Create a Web Chat channel
- In your dashboard, open Settings → Channels.
- Click Add Channel and choose Web Chat.
- Give it a name (e.g. Website), pick a color and a welcome message, then Save.
2. Copy the embed snippet
After saving, open the channel and copy the embed snippet. It looks like this:
<script
src="https://your-domain.com/widget.js"
data-inbox-id="YOUR_INBOX_ID"
async>
</script>
Paste it just before the closing </body> tag of your website. That's it — the chat bubble appears on every page that includes the snippet.
3. Options you can configure
- Require email / name — ask visitors to identify themselves before chatting.
- One conversation — keep a visitor to a single ongoing thread instead of many.
- File & voice — allow attachments and voice notes.
- Help tab (Knowledge Base) — show your published help articles right inside the widget so visitors can self-serve.
Testing
Open your website, click the bubble, and send a message. It should appear instantly in Conversations in your dashboard. Reply from the dashboard and the visitor sees it in real time.
The widget can be turned off globally or per-channel from Settings → Widget without removing the snippet.
